The GM Evgeni Dragomarezkiy of Moscow gained the lead in the final round of the Veterans’ Tournament. He drew his last game with Yuri Balashov, providing him 7.5 points and, resultingly, first place.

Evgeny Sveshnikov (Latvia) took second place. He was leading throughout the whole tournament, but went into a bit of a “skid” for the last four rounds and is half a point behind Dragomarezkiy.

Four more players scored 7 points as Sveshnikov did. The better tie-break indicators placed Nikolai Mishuchkov (Russia) to the third position. Yuriy Kolokolov, Yuri Balashov and Mazhmudin Karmov (all representing Russia) found themselves below the prize winners’ line.

Larisa Khropova (Russia) showed the best result among women, which is 5 points.
