Round 8 Report. Irine Kharisma Sukandar Gained a Convincing Victory in the Women’s Student Grandmaster Tournament

Sole leaders appeared in all the tournaments of the RSSU Moscow Open Cup one round left to the finish. And the winner of the Women’s Student competitions is already known. A brilliant result – 7 of possible 8 points – allowed the chess player from Indonesia Irine Kharisma Sukandar to win the first place a round left to the finish. The second and third lines of the bracket are divided between Dinara Saduakassova (Kazakhstan) and Alina Kashlinskaya (Russia), both of them scored 5 points. Petra Papp (Hungary) and Anna Iwanow (Poland) are half a step behind them.

Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (Amenia) is leading again in the Men’s Student Grandmaster competitions. His win over Olexandr Bortnyk (Ukraine) in the Round 8 provided him with 5,5 points. The main chasers Daniil Dubov (Russia) and Daniel Sadzikowski (Poland) follow him half a step behind. Ulvi Bajarani (Azerbaijan) with 4,5 points occupies the fourth place.

Ernesto Inarkiev is still able to keep the first position in the Men’s Cup of Russia Stage, Moscow Open 2015. In the Round 8 the Russian finished his game with Tigran Petrosian (Armenia) in a draw. Now he has 6,5 points. 15 chess players managed to score 6 points, this group includes three rating favorites – Ian Nepomniachitchi (Russia), Franciso Vallejo (Spain) and Igor Lysyj (Russia).

Chinese Lei Tingjie outplayed Aydan Hojjatova (Azerbaijan) in this round that provided her with the sole leadership position in the Women’s Cup of Russia Stage. The female player from the Heavenly Empire is rivaled by Russians: Aleksandra Goryachkina, Elmira Mirzoeva and Marina Guseva. Seven players scored 6 points.

Russian Evgeni Dragomarezkij is at the first position in the Veterans’ Tournament. One round to the finish he has 7 points. Evgeny Sveshnikov (Latvia), Yuri Balashov and Yuriy Kolokolov (both from Russia) are half a step behind the leader. Seven players scored 6 points.

Sergey Galakhov (Russia) continued the winning series in the Amateurs’ Tournament. He has 8 points. The representative of Armenia Sargis Manukyan with 7 points is at the second place, Konstantin Bazarov, Dmitry Shchukin, Marat Denishev and Roman Alkaev (all representing Russia) scored 6,5 points. 

The final Round 9 of the competitions will be held on Sunday, Feb 8. The start of the games is at 11:00 Moscow time.

We should also mark, the Award Ceremony of the RSSU Moscow Open Cup winners will be held Feb 8 in the RSSU main building. It will start at 18:00.
