February 5, 2015
Round 6 Report. Ian Nepomniachtchi Caught the Leader at the Cup of Russia Stage

The Moscow Open, 11th International RSSU Cup is inevitably approaching its finish. It’s very hard to predict the winners in almost all the tournaments of the festival.

We can talk about two leaders in the Men’s Cup of Russia Stage after today’s game day. Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) caught the sole leader of the competitions Ernesto Inarkiev (Russia). Both grandmasters scored 5 points. In the Round 6 Inarkiev finished his game with Rauf Mamedov (Azerbaijan) in a draw.  Nepomniachtchi won over Francisco Vallejo (Spain).

Russians Boris Grachev, Vladislav Artemiev, Aleksei Pridorozhni and Sergey Volkov, Tigran Petrosian (Armenia) and Rauf Mamedov (Azerbaijan) earned 5 points each.

None of the players managed to break away in the Women’s Cup of Russia Stage. The best results – 5 of 6 possible points – are shown by ten female players. Those are Aleksandra Goryachkina, Marina Guseva, Margarita Schepetkova and Elmira Mirzoeva (all representing Russia), Lei Tingjie (China), Karina Szczepkowska-Horowska (Poland), Aydan Hojjatova an Sabina Ibrahimova (Azerbaijan), Nino Maisuradze (France), Gulrukhbegim Tokhhirjonova (Uzbekistan).

Irine Kharisma Sukandar made another step to the win in the A. Pochinok Memorial Women’s Student Grandmaster Cup. The chess player from Indonesia beat Anna Iwanow (Poland) in the Round 6, and now she has 5,5 points. Her closest persecutor Russian Alina Kashlinskaya with 1,5 points less follows her.

Dinara Saduakassova (Kazakhstan) and Petra Papp (Hungary) with 3,5 points each share the 3-4 places.

Minimum three participants claim the victory in the Men’s Student Grandmaster Tournament. Having 4,5 points, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (Armenia) and Daniel Sadzikowski (Poland) share the 1-2 places. Russian Daniil Dubov is half a point behind. Olexandr Bortnyk from Ukraine has 3,5 points.
There are two leaders in the Veterans’ Cup – Evgeny Sveshnikov (Latvia) and Evgeni Dragomarezkij (Russia) with 5,5 points share the 1-2 places. Seven chess players, having half a point less, follow them. The famous Moscow grandmasters Yuri Balashov and Evgeni Vasiukov are among them.

Sergey Galakhov is leading in the Amateurs’ Tournament. He won six times in a row. Dmitry Shchukin is chasing him with half a point less. 14 chess players scored 5 points.

The Round 7 games will be held on Friday, Feb 6.
