Round 5 Report. Ernesto Inarkiev and Evgeny Sveshnikov maintain a perfect score

The main tournaments of the Moscow Open, RSSU Cup passed the mid-way point today. Only two participants of the competitions have maintained a perfect score.

Russian Ernesto Inarkiev had five consecutive wins in the Men’s Cup of Russia stage. He prevailed against Anton Korobov (Ukraine) in the previous round and is the sole leader of the tournament. Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi and Boris Grachev, Xiu Deshun (China) and Rauf Mamedov (Azerbaijan) are left behind the leader with half a point less.

The famous chess theorist Evgeny Sveshnikov scored 5 points in five rounds in the Veterans’ Tournament. Evgeni Dragomarezkij, Oleg Zilbert, Evgenij Kalegin and Veniamin Kolbanov (all representing Russia) are chasing after the leader with a half point lag.

Aleksandra Goryachkina and Elmira Mirzoeva share the leadership in the Women’s Cup of Russia Stage. Each of the Russian female players have 4.5 points. This round Goryachkina finished in a draw with Lei Tingjie (China). Mirzoeva beat Guliskhan Nakhbayeva (Kazakhstan). 18 players are a half-point behind.

The leaders have maintained their positions in the A. Pochinok Memorial Student Grandmaster Tournaments. Samvel Ter-Sahakyan scoring 4 points is at the head of the Men’s tournament bracket. Daniil Dubov (Russia) and Daniel Sadzikowski (Poland) are half a point behind him.

Irine Kharisma Sukandar strengthened her leading position in the Women’s Student Grandmaster Cup. The Indonesian player has 4.5 points after the win over Gunay Mammdzada (Azerbaijan) in the Round 5. Russian Alina Kashlinskaya with 3.5 points is occupying the second position.

Dinara Saduakassova (Kazakhstan), Petra Papp (Hungary) and Anna Iwanow (Poland) scored 3 points and share 3-5 places.

In the Amateurs’ Tournament the first place is divided between Russians Grigory Malyshev and Sergey Galakhov. Each of them has 5 points. Seven players are half a step behind.

The Round 6 of the competitions will start on Thursday, Feb 5.
